COVID-19 has not killed the internship world: sign up for program online!

In times of social distancing and e-learning, the safest way to keep on learning new skills and acquiring more work experience is -no doubt- the internet. There are thousands of websites out there that offer courses of studies and online jobs to improve your qualifications and CV. However, many people have not realized yet that it is a great time to do an online internship and become a pro before the quarantine is over.

Benefits of doing an online internship

Internships are the best way of easing the transition from student to professional. They give you new skills, work experience and, most importantly, global connections. You get real-life training on what your job will be like so that you can prepare yourself and, let’s be honest, see whether you want to build a career on that subject. Furthermore, doing an internship teaches you skills like being flexible and adapting to new situations, learning how to use new tools, solving different problems that might arise, among others.

Best internships to dive into

These are the top fields for internships that will prepare you for the future:

  • Business.
  • Marketing, Advertising, and PR.
  • Psychology.
  • Journalism.
  • Computer engineering.
  • Information Technology Development.

Where to search for internships

The Internet is full of websites that advertise job positions, courses of studies, and internships. However, not all of them are reliable and you should make sure they are actually serious. Here’s a list of some of the websites that offer good online internships based on a list by Forbes magazine:

1. LinkedIn

This platform is the most popular one to advertise and search for jobs. People from all over the world use it daily. Here, you can build your professional CV and include everything you have ever done, such as volunteer work or paid internships. Moreover, LinkedIn offers courses and online internships. The only downside is that not all of the internships are paid ones.

2. Glassdoor

No other website offers as much information about salaries, jobs, and internships than Glassdoor. You can find information about the companies, how much they pay per position, their reviews from former employees, among other details.

3. Find Spark

Most of the internships advertised on this website are not paid, but they are still valuable experience to include in your CV.

4. Internships.com and WayUp

Both of these American companies offer listings of thousands of internships from companies in the USA and around the globe. You can sign in and choose what fields interest you and they will send you listings to your email account.

Without a doubt, we are living in a moment that will change our world and the global economy forever. We should see this as an opportunity to improve our CV and professional skills and gain more experience. Online internships allow you to work for any company around the globe and gain new contacts while diving deep into new cultures!
